Here are some tips you should follow if you find yourself in such an unfortunate situation!<\/p>\n

1. As always, prevention is the best medicine.<\/h2>\n

This means that you should always take care to watch where you are walking and, if walking outside, be mindful of inclement weather conditions<\/strong> and wear proper footwear.<\/p>\n

2. Seek medical attention.<\/h2>\n

If you have fallen, the first priority should be to take care of yourself and to go see a medical professional<\/strong>. A seemingly minor slip and fall can easily lead to unforeseen injuries such as contusions, minor and major fractures, trauma and internal bleeding. Make sure to document all hospital and doctor visits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

3. Survey the area.<\/h2>\n

If safe to do so, at the time of the accident, it will be helpful<\/strong> for your potential case if you can survey the area and document the environment<\/strong>. Was the area improperly shoveled, cleared, or presented a danger to pedestrians? If possible, take photographs at the scene of the accident. Are there any cameras nearby that would capture the condition of the premises, and the fall?<\/p>\n

4. Report the accident.<\/h2>\n

Seek out the appropriate authorities, such as a property maintenance contractor, property owner, or the City and report the accident. Document the accident report and all relevant records<\/strong>. Take down names and notes of witnesses, if any.<\/p>\n
